The Organising Committee welcomes proposals from international and national scholars to participate in the Melbourne College of Divinity Centenary Conference, "The Future of Religion in Australian Society". The Centenary Conference will be a significant seminal event in theological reflection in Australia, providing valuable insights for theological and academic institutions in Australia and overseas.
Abstract Submission
We look forward to receiving abstracts that highlight the conference themes. Abstracts may address any of the topics falling within the scope of the conference themes. Papers accepted for presentation, based on blind peer review, must be presented at the conference by the author.

Refereeing Process
The MCD Centenary Conference is fully peer reviewed by a Review Panel to ensure research dissemination of the highest quality. Members of the Review Panel are invited to participate in the review process on the basis of their contribution to the relevant field.
A select group of approved papers will be published in "Pacifica" after the conference.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION OF AN ABSTRACT OF A PAPER
We look forward to proposals that highlight the Centenary Conference themes. Abstracts of papers are to be submitted online. Before proceeding to that page, you will find it helpful to review the information that will be needed. Specifically you will need:
- To provide author information: First (given) name (initials not acceptable), Last (family) name, title, institution, mailing address, telephone, fax (if available) and email address
- To provide an abstract of up to 300 words for the proposed paper
The Review Panel will review all abstracts. The decision of the Review Panel on whether to accept an abstract submission is final. Final scheduling in the Conference Program is subject to the Organising Committee's discretion. Instructions for presentations will be sent to the author by email.
Notification to Authors
Authors will receive an email acknowledgement after submitting their abstract. (Please contact the Conference Secretariat if this does not occur.) Authors will be notified of submission acceptance by email no later than 30 March 2010. Notification of acceptance will also be placed on the website the week of 30 March 2010.
Conditions of Acceptance
- Authors are responsible for meeting the costs of their registration fees, travel and accommodation
- Authors must ensure that they have copyright approval for any supporting material used
- All papers must be presented in English
- All papers are restricted in length to a maximum of 2,000 words (20 minutes presentation)
The Conference Secretariat will not be held responsible for abstracts or paper submissions not received via the website or for submission errors caused by internet service outages, hardware or software delays, power outages or unforeseen events.
Author Early Bird Deadline
To ensure inclusion in the Conference Program the author of an accepted paper must be registered to attend the Centenary Conference by the Author Early Bird Deadline of 31 May 2010.

The MCD Centenary Conference is being held in conjunction with 2010 ANZATS Annual Conference whose conference theme is 'The Future of God : Eschatology and the global challenges of the future'.
The MCD Conference begins with the Centenary Dinner on Sunday July 4, and runs until Wednesday. The ANZATS Conference runs from Wednesday - Friday (the Wednesday being an ‘overlap' between the two conferences. The ANZATS Conference will also be held at Trinity College, University of Melbourne). The joint plenary session on Wednesday morning will be addressed by Dr John McDowell, Morpeth Professor of Theology at the University of Newcastle, NSW.
