Deans Introduction
Dear Friends of the MCD
We approach the end of 2011 with both gratitude and rejoicing. Gratitude for another successful and eventful year at the Melbourne College of Divinity, as the College stands on the brink of becoming the nation’s first Specialised University, scheduled to take place on 1 January, 2012. This transition to university status was made possible by a truly outstanding and extended cooperative and corporative effort at all levels of the MCD.
The newly-created position of Vice Chancellor of MCD University of Divinity has been advertised, and an appointment is expected to be made by Council early in the New Year. Appointments to the positions of Chancellor and Deputy Chancellor will be made by Council at its meeting on 7 December, effective when MCD University of Divinity comes into existence.
It truly is a time of great excitement and anticipation.
It is also a time of gratitude, anticipation and rejoicing as a child is about to be born once again into our hearts and into our lives. My wish this year is that we may each experience this central event in our lives with the open-eyed wonder of a child, or perhaps of the shepherds who heard the angels sing and listened to the cry of the infant Jesus as his voice was heard for the first time in this world.
