Guest Speaker: Prof Paul Beirne
Hear about the ideas behind and formation of the new MCD University of Divinity. As one of the central individuals involved in the whole process of recognition for a specialised university, Paul Beirne will share his thoughts on theological education in Australia, on the study of religion in higher education, and on the "idea of a university."
Paul Beirne is Dean, CEO and Professor of Comparative Religion at MCD University of Divinity and played an integral part in MCD gaining specialized university status. He holds an MA in East Asian Studies from Yonsei University in Seoul, South Korea, a Masters in Divinity from Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, a Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary and a PhD from the School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics at the University of Queensland.Tuesday 27 March: 7.30pm – 9.30pm
